Long tail cast on

Now it's eight months since I started knitting and just these days I've discovered the easiest cast on ... at least! the long tail cast on!

Before this I used to do a variation of the backward (or twisted) cast on... I used to make one stitch with this cast on method and then immediately work this stitch with the same yarn tail, it was simple, but the cast on was a little bit loose.

Then I bumped into the video of Emma Fassio on youtube and I suddenly could understand and redo the long tail cast on (or butterfly cast on). It's simple and it mantains the tension I want and it's fast.

This video is in Italian and I don't know why, but the system does not make me upload it, but it's worth seeing!

Another good and accurate explanation of the long tail cast on is this video of Knitpics from youtube:

It's easier to do it that to see, so my suggestion is to put yourself in front of the video with your needle and the skein of yarn and just do it following the explanation.
